Welcome to Aki Boutique, a lifestyle shop focusing on natural, handmade, and eco-friendly products. We believe that nature plays a very important role in our worlds. It surrounds us with its grandeur, it nurtures us, it feeds us, it heals us, and we believe it must be show cased and preserved.

 
As a woman of a mixed heritage, the owner, Charity wanted to honor her Indigenous roots by incorporating them into her skincare line and naming the  boutique after the Ojibway word “Aki” meaning land/earth. 

Growing up, she loved exploring the outdoors, and exploring small funky shops that offered unique products and a fun shopping venture.  She wanted to create a similar experience for her customers by curating a collection of Canadian brands that reflected her values and style. From skincare to home scents, home décor, and wellness products, there's a little bit of everything at Aki Boutique. The skincare line is made with all-natural ingredients with some ingredients that are hand picked and wild crafted and made in small batches. 

Aki Boutique is where they celebrate the beauty of the land and the importance of enjoying life to the fullest. 

 
About the Owner

 
Hello, Boozhoo! My name is Charity Lax, I consider myself lucky to have been born in Kenora, Ontario but grew up in Victoria B.C. I got to experience two different but beautiful worlds that gave me so much inspiration over the years. Since I was a little girl, I loved exploring and connecting with nature, and most would say I live to the beat of my own drum. I think life is too short to not be doing what you love and I try to look at everything in a positive light and just have fun!

If I am not working then I am enjoying time with my partner, laughing, hiking with my two golden retrievers, or in the kitchen because I love to cook. It is something that puts me into a zen place and I love to create new things. I guess you could say I have always been a “creator”. When I was a child, I would catch and or harvest food, make perfumes or different concoctions, and just explore the world around me. 

Throughout my life, I took on many roles in the work field including being an Esthetician and even earning a degree in Psychology. But these experiences  that are seemingly so different led me where I am at today and to create a shop for people to experience the little enjoyments in life. Self-care is so important and sometimes we forget to just relax, indulge a little, and just let ourselves glow! Whether your thing is taking a bath, lighting a candle that takes you to that nostalgic time,  or admiring handmade jewelry. We have a little of everything for you.

We are tucked away on the beautiful Lake of the Woods harbourfront. We are truly inspired and blessed everyday to be looking out on our deck upon Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario. Lake of the Woods is home to 10,000 islands, Treaty 3 Anishiinabeg, an abundance of wildlife and some of the ingredients we use in our very own skincare. The lake is endless, and the woods are vast. 

 
Charities

 
We believe that every living thing deserves a good healthy life and we want to support Save a Dog Network Canada as we appreciate their efforts in saving dogs and animals in some pretty remote places and some very heart breaking situations. We will donate 1 % of our proceeds to their amazing efforts.

 
"The mission of Save A Dog Network Canada is to provide assistance to northern communities by removing injured and unwanted dogs while providing education and resources to members of the community and networking with adopting rescues to reduce unwanted dogs in Manitoba by re-homing them out of province"
